“Education for Sustainable Development (ESD)” is a concept that goes far beyond environmental education. ESD is the educational process of achieving human development (“the three pillars of human development” proposed by UNDP: economic growth, social development, and environmental protection) in an inclusive, equitable and secure manner. It thus includes education for poverty alleviation, human rights, gender equality, cultural diversity, international understanding, peace and many more. UNESCO proposed that the vision of education for sustainable development is a world where everyone has the opportunity to benefit from quality education and learn the values, behaviour and lifestyles required for a sustainable future and for positive societal transformation. For more information, please visit the UNESCO website on education for ESD.

State licensure policies for bilingual teachers reflect a common knowledge base about what knowledge, skills, and abilities are required for effective bilingual program implementation and classroom teaching. In California, as elsewhere, state agencies and institutions of higher education continue to refine and augment the knowledge and research bases for teacher certification. This expanded knowledge has been applied in teacher education and credentialing programs for enhancing the effectiveness of teachers who work with English language learners in various types of programs.

Policy initiatives that increase the rigor of testing and academic demands for earning bilingual teaching certification are responses to changes in federal and state laws and policies regarding the education of English language learners (ELLs) and the demand for teachers with bilingual teaching skills. As the research evidence supporting effective bilingual teaching practices expands, programs and licensure regulations for certifying bilingual teachers will benefit. Distinguish between challenges to students’ learning based on their lack of language proficiency to express their knowledge of content and when the concepts or content knowledge needs to be developed through language that students have mastered. Knowledge of effective grouping patterns according to students’ dominant language and L2 proficiency. Selection and adaptation of L1 and L2 materials and texts for grade-level instruction in L1 and developmentally appropriate materials in L1.

Knowledge of cross-linguistic transfer theory and the connections between students’ academic knowledge and their growth in L2 proficiency. Ability to develop critical thinking skills in L1 and to present increasingly challenging content material in L2 as students’ proficiency increases. Ability to determine what content needs to be introduced, practiced, and assessed in either L1 or L2 at points in time in the curriculum. Knowledge of the benefits of bilingualism and the expectation that students become fully bilingual and biliterate. Knowledge of bilingual language use in the students’ homes and community and affirmation of the use of two or more languages as a resource. Expectations that students will become fully linguistically and culturally integrated into society as bilingual individuals.

People acquire knowledge by reading writing and organizing. People have their own way of studying, and no two people study the same way. In spite of different methods people used to study, all students may follow certain basic guidelines to help them study effectively. Every student possesses thinking skills, but not all students utilize them effectively. These skills cannot be learned; rather, they have to be developed. People who think well rarely see any difficulties, while others just see dead ends. It is wise for students to ask themselves questions that are related to the subject while reading to develop these skills or habits. By interacting with good thinkers, there are possibilities for students to exchange creative ideas that will help them while studying.

A proven method that helps enhance students to study effectively is the SQ3R method. This abbreviation stands for Survey, Question, Read, Recite and Review. By surveying, students get a fair idea of the overall picture before studying in detail. Students get to know the topics they will be dealing with in the near future. It is advisable for students to ask themselves relevant questions while learning. By asking themselves questions regarding important points of the lesson students are able to study more effectively. They are able to retain matter easily and this also helps to retain better while studying.

Another important step towards effective studying is reading. Reading simply does not mean just glancing through the book. When students read they should also be able to answer questions. It is recommended that they should also go through the points that are in bold or in italics. While studying it is wise for students to recite. While reciting students need to stop reading periodically and this helps student to recall whatever they read earlier. Reviewing is another important aspect for students as it proves to be a survey of what the students have covered. If students follow methods that help them study effectively it helps them enhance their performance and makes them good thinkers.

The importance of acquiring and maintaining effective study habits is beneficial to your educational career as well as your future working career. Studying is different for everybody, some people like music some people don’t, some people keep the T.V. on some people don’t. Your ability to focus with or without background noise is a crucial aspect to discover before embarking on any studying project.

Preparation of your study area is a key aspect of accomplishing your study goals. Assemble all of the research materials, books, and your computer if needed, it never hurts to have too many sources to get data from. It is necessary to have all these materials at hand to eliminate time consuming trips to the bookshelf, library, or bookstore. It is also a good idea to keep several pens, pencils, highlighters, and notebooks available for all your note taking and writing needs. Having a few different colors of pens and highlighters, allows you to record separate types of information for different uses.

Now that you have your area and supplies the way you want them. Start to break down, the total project, book, or information you are going to study. Create general categories to input your notes, based on what your needs for the information are. If your categories are too general, add some sub categories for each section. If studying an entire book, make your categories and subcategories follow along with the table of contents of the book, this allows you to go back relatively easily and check your information or add to it. When other information needs to be studied about the same topic, just leave extra room for notes in your already organized sections, with some sort of delineation so you know the information is from another source.

One way to effectively study is read over the material quickly, then go back and reread it slower and take notes, this makes the information easier to retain mentally and allows for a quicker grasp of the content. Only attempt to study in areas where you will be guaranteed some time to focus on the material. So remember, preparation, organization, read, reread, and take notes. This will help you gain and grasp the concept and knowledge of whatever you are studying.

The education given during these years of a child’s life plays a very important role and helps in proper development of children. Early childhood education can be fundamentally termed as “Learning through play”. Recent research have shown that early eight years in any children life are crucial time because during this phase their brain develops and much of its ‘wiring’ is laid down. The education experiences and relationships a child has along with nutrition can actually affect child mental growth enormously. While good early childhood education helps the brain to develop in healthy ways, improper education or study without play on other hand may affect brain development in different manner.

Recent studies of early childhood education have even shown some remarkable success. It resulting effects on child motivation and learning power last for a long time. Today where education has become very important role to play in a society, it is not right to postpone investing in children education until they become adults, nor wait till they reach school age. In fact early childhood is a vital phase of life in terms of a child’s intellectual, emotional and social development. Besides this, the most important point to know is that the growth of mental abilities is at an astounding rate and high proportion of learning takes place during this period.

These are very crucial years when children gain a sense of self and learn to associate themselves with the people around them. They develop an understanding and behavior to a certain extent. For this reason it is suggested that early childhood education during these years should be more focused on teaching children about the world around them through play and establish the links. Moreover, many child development experts also agree that play is very important in the learning and emotional development of children. A play can be multi-facet and often helps in educating different skills in children.

Certainly, today it won’t be wrong to say that early childhood education is the key element that helps in building a god foundation for child’s educational success. Every child learns habit and form patterns that are not easily changed in later years. If parents and educators can develop productive early education patterns for the children in their charge, those children will be on their way to achieving great educational success. The lack of parental interaction during early childhood can negatively impact a child’s development.

For years now there have been publications of research into the merits of music on early childhood and even in the womb development. Many researches on the subject have hypothesized that listening to certain kinds of music and learning instruments can vastly improve the brain development in children and even make them smarter.

From a scientific point of view a lot of the theories can be backed up. It makes sense that there are a lot of skills involved in learning to play an instrument. It requires the understanding of long sections of music, a complex symbolic notation system, and bimanual control of the instrument. It’s irrefutable that learning these requires good memory, motor functions and the ability to understand rhythm, timing and a system much like a foreign language. At a young age children’s brains are like sponges and to add learning such skills early on could only benefit a child.

Slightly more theoretically based is the belief that hearing complex musical pieces can actually improve a child’s intelligence. There have been numerous researches done into this area with interesting results. One such research project resulted in the buzz word ”Mozart Effect”. It is a widely heard theory that listening to Mozart can make a child smarter. Mozart is regularly used as the prime example because of the complexity of his pieces.

Whether there is any real merit to these techniques, it is apparent that giving children an artistic output is beneficial to them. There are a variety of educational companies who strive to provide educational tools for children such as easels for art and various musical instruments which suggest there is strong support for artistic development in early learning.

These days the global recession is causing huge problems for the people. The people are striving to make the ends meet. Every day thousands of people are loosing their jobs. In this turmoil the people need to look everywhere for the jobs. They need to look at the foreign markets as well. It is a fact that you will not get many jobs in the foreign countries if you are not acquainted with their language. This is where the important of a foreign language school comes in. These schools are offering what people need. They are giving the chance to the people to learn the foreign languages and improve their chances of getting the various jobs.

When you want to learn a foreign, you will find many schools offering courses. These courses are taught by the foreign language experts. You can even hire a tutor to come to your home and teach you the foreign language. But remember that this is not the best option. You will end up spending too much money for the same thing.

When you are searching for the language schools, you need to be careful. The schools offering the foreign language courses are not always great. Some of the schools do not have a good plan to approach the foreign language teaching. The other schools will not have the advanced teaching methods. Remember that learning a foreign language is not a simple thing. The courses have to be designed keeping in mind every separate set of people.

If you want to speak like a native, you will have to make sure that you are doing your research. The research means doing a lot of things. You will have to see the courses of different schools. You will also have to see the track record of the foreign language schools. Only after all this, you will be able to learn the language properly.

Also remember that you, being the student of the foreign language, will have to be committed to the learning of the language. If you do not take the interest and take your language learning as a burden, then you will not do well. You will take too much time and the end product will not be the best one.
